Herman Moerkerk ('s-Hertogenbosch 1879 - Haarlem 1949)
Herman Moerkerk has never followed a training as a professional painter. But received lessons from Jan Bogaerts and Petrus Marinus Butcher.
After completing his studies, he went to work in his father's business. In addition, he signed. Moerkerk was a motivated draftsman who was able to put down a very similar portrait in few lines. He was soon asked for political cartoonists, especially regarding the Bossche City Council (of which he himself himself has taken part for about a year).
In addition, he made designs for performances, for stage sculptures and posters. In addition to hundreds of drawings, Moerkerk made oil paintings. Most of these are certainly not unprofitable, but his true strength has always been his drawings.
